How to Reserve a Group Volunteer Shift

Volunteers help us prepare fresh, nourishing food for distribution to our partner pantries throughout our 16-county service area. Learn more about how to get your group involved below! *If you are looking to reserve a youth group volunteer opportunity, please reference our Youth Volunteer Information Page first.

Step-By-Step Instructions for a Group Shift Reservation:

  • Log in or create an account on the SHF Volunteer Portal.
  • Go to the Food Sort/Repack opportunity.
  • Read the opportunity description for important information and view available shifts under "Shifts."
  • Click "Respond as Group" on the right side of the shift listing or at the top of the page.
  • Choose your group name:
    • If your group has volunteered before, select "Use One of My Groups".
    • If this is your first time, select "Create a New Group" and click "Add Me." Then, assign yourself as the group leader by clicking the checkbox below "Leader" (this lets you make changes to your group later).
    • If you're a youth group, please add "(YOUTH)" next to your group name.
  • Reserve spots for your group members under "Reserve Additional Slots".
    • You don't need to enter their names at this time - just reserve the number of spots you need.
  • Click "Continue."
  • Double-check the shift date and time you selected, then click "Finish."
  • You're all set- your group is now reserved!

Once you reserve your group, learn how to register your group members here. Important: If your group members do not register and join your group at least 7 days in advance, their slots will automatically be released and made available for public sign-up.
